Togo's President is currently in China. Faure Gnassingbe has said he is keen to boost cooperation and bilateral relations with Beijing. Togo is one of the poorest countries in the world but economic growth has slowly improved over the past ten years. Katerina Vittozzi has more.
Health professionals in Togo, a malaria-torn western African nation, have expressed their trust in the efficacy of artemisinin-based anti-malarial drugs that saved more than a million patients last year in the country alone.
The unemployment rate in Togo is stifling, leaving many under poor living conditions. However this has greatly improved as Coporation between China and Togo grows following a promise to boost the infrastructure development earlier this year.

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday met with the presidents of Togo, Guinea, Djibouti, Ghana, and Angola in Johannesburg ahead of a summit on China-Africa cooperation. When meeting with Togo's President Faure Gnassingbe, Xi said China and Togo should consolidate political mutual trust and enhance cooperation to achieve common development. When meeting with Guinean President Alpha Conde, Xi pledged to continue medical aid in Guinea after the Ebola outbreak and help Conakry develop its public health and epidemic prevention networks.
